We're looking for a hands-on Lead Engineer to own our platform end-to-end, from database to UI to production, working directly with the founders.

SportsFi is leading the data-driven transformation of sports transactions, enabling users to trade players, manage finances, and access sports financial markets.
Our mission is to drive the transformation of the sports industry through data-driven innovation. Football still runs much of its financial and deal-making activity on spreadsheets, PDFs, email chains, and WhatsApp. We are replacing that with secure, verified data and digital workflows, so clubs, funders and advisers can make faster, better-informed decisions.
Our vision is to become the benchmark for sports transaction management and financial intelligence. We want SportsFi to be the trusted single source of truth for every club. It should be where transfers are negotiated, finance is raised, and regulatory compliance is tracked in real time. We are starting with football and will grow into multi-club groups and other sports.
How we do it
SportsFi brings deal-making and financial data together on one platform. Clubs run their finances, raise funding, and close deals in one secure software. Every party works from the same data, so deals move faster, costs come down and every step is fully auditable.
Our stack
- App: Next.js 16 (App Router), React 19, TypeScript, Tailwind 4, Zod.
- Data: Supabase: PostgreSQL 17 with RLS, Auth (MFA), PostgREST, Storage, pgTAP.
- Infra: Vercel, GitHub Actions, Docker Compose, Sentry, Resend.
- Quality: Playwright, CI boundary and audit checks, gitleaks, dependency auditing.
What you'll do
- Maintain and evolve our production and staging environments
- Develop new functionality based on stakeholder requirements
- Communicate with stakeholders on scope, progress and risks
- Keep the platform secure and aligned with compliance requirements
- Ship the product end to end, from database to UI
- Use AI tooling actively to deliver fast and make better technical decisions
- Help hire and mentor engineers as the team grows
Must have
- 5+ years building production apps in TypeScript / Node.js
- Strong relational database experience (PostgreSQL preferred): schema design, migrations on a live database, query performance
- Strong React and Next.js
- Experience owning architecture and making key technical decisions
- Experience leading code reviews
- Ability to set and maintain code quality standards for the team
- Daily, hands-on use of AI coding tools (Claude Code, Cursor or similar), with the judgment to review and correct what they produce
- Experience running production systems: CI/CD, deployments, monitoring and incident handling
- Solid automated testing practice
- Experience with financial data
- Solid security habits: auth/session design, MFA, OWASP, least privilege
- Experience building and scaling B2B SaaS platforms
- Hands-on mindset and willingness to take ownership
- Fluent English and strong written communication

- Supabase / RLS-based multi-tenancy
- Early-stage startup experience
- Fintech, lending or sports-business domain
- Hands-on experience with SOC 2, ISO 27001 or GDPR
- AWS or other cloud platforms experience
